Unwind/Rewind Systems

If you need an unwind/rewind system to convert your product in an unusual width or configuration, T&P may have the answer for you.

Stand Alone Systems

T&P can design and manufacture complete unwind/rewind stands in many different configurations. We have standard as well as custom designs that can convert printed or unprinted rolls that range in width from 3" to 60".

Some of the many features we can include:

  • Cantilevered or simply supported pneumatic air shafts
  • Matrix rewinds
  • Differential drive rewinds
  • Vacuum extraction systems (including noise reduction/silencing options)
  • Trim removal systems
  • Simple or sophisticated tension control
  • Infeed/outfeed nip rollers
  • Edge guides
  • Vision equipment for inspection and/or registration
  • Print-to punch or die cut registration systems (if required)
  • Speeds up to 1000 feet per minute
  • Conveyors
  • Stackers
  • Web cleaners
Tooling that can be supplied:
  • Male/female rotary punch units
  • Die cutting modules (metal-to-metal or magnetic dies)
  • Sheeting stations
  • Slitting stations (shear, crush, or razor type)
  • Consecutive numbering systems
  • Embossing rollers
  • Creasing rollers
  • Hot stamping unit

Complete Rotary System with Print-to-Punch Registration System

The machine shown above is an example of T&P's latest design and manufacturing capabilities. This rotary converting press took a preprinted, 52" wide web and, using a sophisticated print-to-punch registration system, registered the web to the punching at speeds up to 600 fpm. The machine included a 40" diameter unwind, infeed and outfeed nip rollers, (12) sets of male/female rotary punch and die rings utilizing vacuum cups for waste removal, as well as a pneumatically controlled shear-type slitting system. The machine was completely designed and manufactured by T&P for a customer to produce special packaging film for computer printer cartridges.

T&P also has the capability to provide flat bed or reciprocating P/D tooling with its unwind/rewind systems.
Automatic Flatbed Punching System

  • Unwind with splicing table
  • Edge trim with vacuum removal
  • Infeed and outfeed nip rolls
  • Reciprocating punch tooling
  • Automated inspection of punched holes
  • Shear slitter
  • Web cleaner
  • Dual rewind

Vinyl Sign Punching Machines

In response to industry demand, T&P developed the first vinyl sign punching system in 1983. Many of these popular units have been shipped world wide. Available in 15", 18", 30" and 40", the T&P system provides maximum flexibility from heavy duty table-top models to larger freestanding units -- single or dual punch. Convenience of operation, low maintenance and high precision punching are the hallmarks of these units with speeds up to 500 feet per minute.

Table top units are supplied with automatic tension control to maintain precise registration. In addition, free standing units can contain all the features of our stand alone systems mentioned above.

Vinyl Sign Industry Information

We have designed and built various unwind/rewind systems for converting many products including medical diagnostic strips, charting paper, vinyl sign material, photograph albums, and several other products that required a complete rotary solution.

Give us the opportunity to provide you with a quotation for an affordable solution to your converting applications. Standard or custom, simple or extremely precise, we have the answer for you.

Complete Custom Rotary Systems

These pictures show T&P's complete rotary system that was designed to print, punch, die cut, and fanfold a special packaging product. The equipment unwound 60" diameter rolls of 0.019" board stock, printed advertising details on both sides of the material, punched over 2000 holes per revolution, performed two different die cutting operations, removed all waste, and fan-folded the finished product at speeds of up to 500 feet per minute. This project is further evidence of T&P's extensive capabilities which range from simple tooling to complete machines.
