The Marathon Punch and Die System from T&P

The Marathon (Long Life) Punching system provides less wear, greater punch life, cleaner punched holes and easier set-up! It is the state-of-the-art in rotary male-female punching for continuous EDP, line hole punching.

Fixed center distances utilized by conventional punch and die rings for proper punch penetration are now eliminated with the Marathon punch ring. And, so are punch and die gears, which required time-consuming backlash and timing adjustments.

With this proven concept, the punch ring is driven by the die ring and proper punch penetration is controlled by a precisely manufactured eccentric. Most rings are designed to achieve a hole to hole spacing across the web of approximately 2 1/2". Die rings can be made split or solid, and custom designs are available.

Marathon punch rings are accurately manufactured to exacting tolerances on precision CNC machines. Their design allows for easy lateral adjustment and simple re-webbing. Costly down-time is reduced since each punch now fits precisely into each die, eliminating timing adjustments and the shearing-in and peening of punches.

Specially-hardened punches and dies will last for millions of revolutions. When punches begin to wear, you simply reverse them to use on both sides. Tougher materials such as Ty-vek™ can be punched by increasing the depth of the punch into the die and adjusting the eccentric or by using a harder grade of punches and dies.

T&P's long-life punching modules can be manufactured to fit the accessory platforms of all narrow web label presses or to slide into the die cutting slots of most presses. The Marathon style punch and die rings can also be retrofitted onto you existing T&P units.

Business forms presses can be converted to accommodate Marathon punch and die rings as well. The top shaft, which holds the punch rings, is locked down and the die ring "drives" the punch ring. This modification to your press can be performed in the field by our service engineers.
